Supporting Research
The Steve Waugh Foundation has joined with the Australian Paediatric Surveillance Unit (APSU), committing research funds for 3 years to study the psychological and economic impacts of rare diseases on Australian children, families and health professionals.
The APSU received a landmark research grant from the Australian Research Council (ARC) to enable the first Australian study of psychological and economic impacts on families. The aim is to provide further evidence of the future support we all need to improve all those affected or working in this area of health and medicine in Australia.
This multi-faceted approach to studying the impact of rare diseases has not been used before.
See our Rare Community for more information on rare dieases and research.
