Steve Waugh Foundation was officially launched on Saturday 17th February 2007 at the Hordern Pavilion. There were 1000 people in attendance for the 'Forever Green' gala dinner. Guests arrived through the 'Members Entrance' especially made for the evening. Jarred Styles from Turnstyles Exhibitions & Events in Adelaide created a pre-dinner drinks area replicating the Australian Cricket Team locker room with props supplied by Steve & fellow former Australian cricketer & Board member Gavin Robertson. When the curtains opened, the guests were then escorted into the main hall which simulated walking onto the SCG oval complete with the tunes of the Barmy Army recorded during the summer. Three 14m long screens were used to project images of the SCG grandstands. Turf centrepieces were created with 600 yellow roses representing stumps for the centrepieces.
In the centre of the room a cricket pitch was built as a catwalk complete with a set of stumps where Leo Sayer performed and Collette Dinnigan previewed her Autumn Winter Collection ahead of the Paris Fashion Show. The night started brilliantly with the Qantas Girls Choir lining the perimeter of the catwalk to sing "I Still Call Australia Home". Cricket tragics The Benaud Trio performed on the pitch during main course. Other performers included Vince Sorrenti, Irwin Thomas (formally Jack Jones), David Hobson (winner of It Takes Two), dance company Burn the Floor (featuring many of the professional dancers from Dancing With The Stars), Lee Kernaghan & Australian Idol winner Damian Leith. Matthew Hayden worked with Chris Stubbs from Bayleaf catering to create a delicious meal. The night was an outstanding success for all concerned.

A fundraising cocktail party was held prior to the Rolling Stones concert on Tuesday 11th April. $38,000 was raised to go directly to needy children at Westmead Children's Hospital. The evening was co-hosted by Tim Farriss from INXS - he is pictured with the purple shirt in the group photo.Harley Medcalf is a Governor of the Board of the Steve Waugh Foundation - Australia and was Master of Ceremonies on the evening.

A gift was presented to Ken Edwards - CEO of Telstra Stadium as Ken kindly donated 40 tickets to the concert and all catering for the event. Ken's Executive Assistant Alexis Gachon was instrumental in the organisation of the event so flowers were presented to her for her efforts.

A very innovative & enjoyable evening that raised a substantial amount of money.
