The condition causes a limited lung capacity and reduced oxygen flow.
When sleeping Kaitlyn’s muscles relax which means she is susceptible
every night to respiratory failure.
Without a good night of rest, Kaitlyn is tired and
finds it hard to concentrate during the day which severely limits her
quality of life. Untreated, the condition can cause other things such
as cardiac problems and impair development.
To help her sleep more soundly, the Steve Waugh
Foundation through donations has funded specialised respiratory
equipment for use while sleeping.
Free breathing and a good night’s sleep has made a
world of difference. Kaitlyn now has more energy to do the things she
loves like swimming, playing with her little sister and her dog Chloe.
Her quality of life has improved and hospital admissions have been
reduced.
