The Second Biennial Steve Waugh Foundation Forever Green Dinner was held on Saturday, 14th February 2009 at the Hordern Pavilion, Sydney and raised more than half a million dollars!
Led by veracious MCs Georgie Parker and Richard Wilkins, the night showcased some of Australia’s great entertainers including the Australian Youth Orchestra, The Tap Dogs and Tap Pups, Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Vince Sorrenti, Jasmine Rae, School Spectacular Singers, Jimmy Barnes – with a little help from cricketers Brett Lee and Shane Watson – and Human Nature as well as a preview of Alex Perry’s 2009 Winter collection.
Dozens of auction items were donated on the night including trips to India, Lord’s Cricket Ground, Tiger Jam (Tiger Woods Foundation), and even an amateur place in the historical Dunhill Golf Classic at St Andrews in Scotland. Some lucky guests also enjoyed a sneak preview of Hugh Jackman’s new movie “Wolverine” before it was released to the public, courtesy of Hugh Jackman himself.
Bayleaf Catering created a delicious three-course meal with input from Test cricketer and celebrity chef Matthew Hayden. The atmosphere and decorating in the room was designed by Jarred at Turnstyles Exhibitions and Events. A multitude of businesses contributed their time, services and products to make the event a success.
Over 900 guests including Australian cricketers, Matthew Hayden, Brett Lee and Shane Watson, business leaders, entertainers, friends and family enjoyed a spectacular event of music and entertainment.
Event Managers Harley Medcalf of Duet, and Mike Conway of the Wiggles created an event second to none.
Thanks to everyone for thier generous support of the night. The funds raised will allow us to increase the number of children and families we support.
