Volunteer Thank You 2009
The Steve Waugh Foundation Australia held its inaugural Volunteers “Thank You” Cocktail Party at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday, 22 November 2009 for 75 of our volunteers and other special guests. The party was a way to say a BIG thank you for their continued dedication and support of the Foundation.
Each of the volunteers was presented with a special edition Steve Waugh Foundation Volunteers Cap, together with a personal letter officially inducting them into the Foundation’s Volunteers Program. In his official welcome, Steve summarised the value of our volunteers in one short sentence when he said, “Volunteers in any industry are not paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless”.
Elaine Lim received the Fundraiser of the Year Award, for her outstanding efforts in raising $1,165 for the Foundation during the Sun Herald City 2 Surf, a fantastic individual effort. Guests mingled in the Long Bar of the historic Members Pavilion at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), before being ushered onto the hallowed turf of the SCG pitch for an official team photo.
The Party kicked on next door at the Sydney Football Stadium to the sounds of Pearl Jam, together with 40,000 other mad fans.
